Jaxx Make Roster Moves

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the Double-A Southern League affiliate of the
Chicago Cubs, will start the second half of the Southern League season with new
faces on their roster.
The Diamond Jaxx have placed LHP Sean Marshall on the disabled list and have
called up RHP Angel Guzman from Daytona. The Diamond Jaxx have also sent IF/OF
Jemel Spearman to Daytona. To make the roster at the league maximum of
twenty-three, the Diamond Jaxx received infielders Josh Arteaga and Matt
Creighton from Triple-A Iowa.
Marshall made six starts with the Diamond Jaxx, going 2-2 with a 5.90 ERA.
Marshall worked in twenty-nine innings, allowing twenty runs (nineteen earned)
and thirty-six hits. Guzman, widely regarded as the Cubs top prospect, made
seven starts with Daytona. He went 3-1 with a 4.20 ERA. Last season, Guzman had
a 3-3 record with a 2.81 ERA in fifteen starts with the Diamond Jaxx before
ending his season in late June with a shoulder injury.
Spearman appeared in fifty-five games with the Diamond Jaxx. He hit .243 with no
homers and fourteen RBI’s. In Iowa, Arteaga appeared in fifteen games, hitting
.267 with a homer and six RBI’s. Creighton appeared in thirty games with Iowa,
hitting an even .400 with four homers and eighteen RBI’s. Arteaga and
Creighton will be making their second appearance with the Diamond Jaxx this
season.
The Diamond Jaxx open up the second half of the season at Pringles Park with a
three game series against Greenville beginning tonight. All three games will
start at 7:05 p.m.
